Έξοδος contemplates globalisation, the climate crisis, and pastoral aesthetics in a landscape some way south of Arcadia. The perspective shown is that of an outsider to the region, to Greece, and to rural life.
Communities in the Peloponnese have suffered severe population loss in the last century, mostly to population centres around the world. Increasing risk from wildfires and a rising average temperature endangers the livelihoods and personal safety of the residents.
These issues are in full view, but can be cloaked by their pastoral appearence. Still, the region shimmers as flowers bloom and the air lies heavy with the scent of sun-baked wild herbs.
