Voids was shot in quarries and haulage yards around Cornwall, in which aggregate materials are mined, processed, and distributed. From this material, we construct the surfaces on which we walk, drive, and transport our food and fuel. We do this reflexively. Some seek short-term economic gain from using road transport, but most of us use it because it is what is put before us. A 2020 report found that 78% of the micro-plastics that entered the ocean in 2016 came from road tyres.
